Kitchen Remodel Update: Temporary BIB Room
As part of our ongoing kitchen renovation, we’ve had to get creative with a few things! One fun change you'll notice is our temporary BIB (Beverage in Box) room in Superior Dining. This is where we're currently storing all the beverages for our fountain machines.
It may not be the most glamorous part of the remodel, but it’s a vital piece of keeping your favorite drinks flowing! As construction progresses, we’re adapting and ensuring our services remain smooth. Thanks for your patience and understanding as we work through these exciting upgrades!

We’re officially in full construction mode! The entire main production kitchen has been demoed, and it’s down to the studs. It’s hard to believe this space used to be our kitchen, but we’re excited to see the transformation unfold. Stay tuned for more updates as we work toward building a better and more efficient kitchen for our UMD community!

We're thrilled to share some exciting news with you all - our main production kitchen is about to undergo a major upgrade! 🎉
As many of you may already know, our current kitchen has been faithfully serving us since the 1970s (and some of our equipment could probably tell tales from even further back!). But let's face it, it's time for a change. The upcoming remodel project, set to kick off this May, is like a breath of fresh air for our culinary hub.
Now, we can't promise that construction will wrap up exactly on time (when does it ever, right?), but we're aiming for a grand unveiling in January 2025. Just imagine - bidding farewell to the relics of the 1950s and 1970s, and ushering in a shiny, state-of-the-art kitchen that will empower us to whip up a whole new world of deliciousness for our campus community.
We're not just talking about a facelift here. This upgrade is about so much more than aesthetics. It's about equipping ourselves with the tools and capabilities we need to innovate and elevate our culinary offerings. From exciting new food trends to global cuisine adventures, the possibilities are endless!
Of course, with great transformation comes a few adjustments. During the construction period, there may be changes in our menus and catering options for the next few months. But fear not! Our highly trained managers and staff will be by your side every step of the way, ready to assist and guide you through any culinary twists and turns.
Speaking of concerns, we know that any big project like this can stir up questions among our students, faculty, and even members of our community. Rest assured, we're prepared to communicate openly and honestly every step of the way. We want everyone to see this upgrade for what it truly is - a positive necessity that will enhance our campus community in countless ways.
