Reusable Container Program
UMD Dining is proud to offer this sustainable program.
These takeaway containers can now be used in Superior Dining and the Food Court. One reusable container replaces on average 300+ single-use to-go boxes.
Save the Cash. Save the Earth.
All single-use containers from the Food Court will cost an additional $0.75 per visit. After 7 orders you'll spend the same amount as you would have to opt into the Reusable Container Program.
How the Reusable Container Program Works
- Purchase or redeem a token for a reusable container at a Dining Services cashier stand, self-serbe kiosk, or upon purchase via GET Food for just $5 (this is a one-time purchase).
- Get your food in your container.
- Enjoy your meal.
- Empty the container.
- Return the container to Superior Dining or the Food Court and receive a token for the next time or a new container if you are getting food right away.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I keep the container?
Yes, you own the container and you can use your container all throughout your studies here at UMD. Because we wash and re-use these as a way to reduce waste, we do ask that when you are done with your studies at UMD that you turn it in. You can drop off a container in Superior Dining or the Food Court.
Do I have to clean it?
Rinse it out, and we’ll take care of the rest. Our industrial dishwasher will properly clean and sanitize the containers.
What if the container breaks or I lose the token?
Regular wear and tear breakage is okay, but if a container or token is lost you’ll need to purchase another container.
