Does the fact that your college student is away at school leave you wondering how they will eat on campus and what meal plan options are available? Look no further. Our meal plans offer the perfect food-away-from-home solution for your student.
Our meal plans afford convenience and flexibility for your student with plenty of meal options including; Residential Meal Plans, Block Meal Plans, and Dining Dollars. Not only do our meal plans offer access to different eateries on campus, but they also give your students access to fun, nutritious, and delicious food.
Residential Meal Plans
Our Residential Meal Plans are designed to ensure students living in the residence halls always have consistent access to meals. Meal swipes are used in Superior Dining, our all-you-care-to-eat dining center.
Residential Meal Plans are comprised of two distinct plans:
- Meal Plan 1: Unlimited visits per week
- Meal Plan 2: 14 visits per week
Superior Dining is open every day from 7 am - 9 pm.
The Unlimited Plan is really what it sounds like: unlimited. Your student can come and go from Superior Dining as many times as they choose every day.
The 14-visits-per-week plan gives students access to Superior Dining twice a day, 7-days-a-week. This ensures students have access to balanced meals every day.
Block Meal Plans
Block Meal Plans are a perfect solution for students living off-campus or in UMD’s on-campus apartments.
Not only is eating on campus delicious and nutritious, but eating on campus saves students time and money. Getting a Block Meal Plan spares students trips to the grocery store, limits wasted perishable foods, curbs expensive last-minute takeout orders, and reduces trips to and from off-campus eating locations. This means instead of spending time off campus, students can focus on their studies or spend quality time with their peers.
While on-campus apartment residents can opt into the Residential Meal Plans, many apartment dwellers choose to buy a block plan instead. This is due to a few reasons:
- If they live in an apartment, they have their own kitchen. For students who enjoy cooking, the Block Meal Plan allows them to cook when they want or find food on campus to take it easy.
- The Block Meal Plan not only gives students access to Superior Dining, the residential dining center, but also allows students to get meals in the Food Court, Northern Shores Coffee Shop, and our kiosks, The Grind, and The Gadget.
- The Block Meal Plan expires two years after purchase. This means if a student purchased a block of meals in August 2023, any unused meals will still be available to them until August 2025.
- The Block Meal Plan can be purchased at any time throughout the year. Students never have to worry about running out.
- Student Block Meal Plans are tax-exempt. This means that they are saving about 11% on food purchases compared to when they pay with their credit card for each individual meal.
- A Block Meal Plan can be purchased via a credit card or charged to their student account.
At UMD, we ensure our meal plans are cost-effective and offer students plenty of value for their money. Our Block Meal Plan pricing is flexible, allowing students to choose from a variety of options that best meet their needs and budget.
- UMD 25-Meal Block Plan - $244.00($9.76 per meal)
- UMD 50-Meal Block Plan - $477.00 ($9.54 per meal)
- UMD 100-Meal Block Plan - $933.00 ($9.33 per meal)
Dining Dollars
All students living on campus have $100 in Dining Dollars each semester, which they can use at all Dining Services locations, including Superior Dining, Burgers, Pizza, Burritos & Bowls, Subs & Wraps, Grab & Go: Soups and Salads, Studio 1208, The Grind, The Gadget, and Northern Shores Coffee Shop.
